Come and experience the solo-rhythmic, healing vibrations of
Will Calhoun's Drum Wave Experience

Will Calhoun is known for his ground breaking-Multi Platinum grooves with Living Colour, and tasteful musicality with Mick Jagger, Wayne Shorter, Pharaoh Sanders, Carly Simon, BB King, and recently Mos Def. Performing with Gnawa masters in Morocco, Aboriginal elders in the Out-Back of Australia, and Punta Rock musicians in Belize, just to name a few, Will has created his own percussive combination of ancestral healing-celebration grooves, by combining electronic and indigenous instruments... New sounds for a new day!

Live at The Open Center
83 Spring St. (between Broadway & Crosby St.)
212-219-2527-please call for accurate show times.

HAND MADE TECHNO

Jaron Lanier and Will Calhoun love electronic beats as much as anyone, but who had the idea that the machines should be allowed to play themselves? What if those electronic sounds were played by human hands? Will has already conquered rock ("Living Colour") and jazz ("Live at the BLue Note"), and now he masters electronic percussion. Jaron has conquered technology (virtual reality) and now plays he own eerie, soulful melodies on strange instruments instead of sampling the sounds of anonymous third world people. Come hear dance music played by people.

Live at Joe's Pub
425 Lafayette St (off of Astor Place), NYC
(212)539-8777

Show time 9:30pm

DRUMWAVE EXPERIENCE
WILL CALHOUN Master Class/Solo Performance

Explore the sonic history of traditional drumming with the birth of technology. Drums can be used as the brain of sound, ambiance, story-telling, and connection to spirits. The class will take a personal look at rhythm, sound, frequency and how the history and future of drumming are interlaced...

Will Calhoun was introduced to the international music scene as the hard-driving drummer of the multi-platinum recording group LIVING COLOUR. Performing with the Gnawa masters in Morocco, Aboriginal elders in the Out-Back of Australia, and Punta rock musicians in Belize, Will has created his own percussive combination of electronics and acoustic-ancestral grooves.
